Lamorna Reviews

The property is in a good position in the village with plenty of room for us, my two daughters and their families. We had a lovely stay at Lamorna.

Extremely Disappointing and Misleading, avoid! We booked this 5bedroom, 5bathroom holiday cottage for a group of 9 people, expecting a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, what we experienced was far from what was advertised. Out of the five bathrooms, only two were actually usable. One of the upstairs bathrooms had a severe water leak that leaked through the ceiling into the rooms below, soaking our luggage and clothing for the rest of the trip. The toilet in another bathroom couldnt flush and overflowed, and one bathroom didnt even have a shower head, rendering it completely unusable. This meant that 9 people had to share just two working bathrooms, which was extremely inconvenient after long days out. The curtain was broken, causing water to splash out and soak the floor during showers. On the last day, we were hit with the worst of it a plumbing disaster caused what smelled like raw sewage water to flood the bathroom, with a greenish, foulsmelling liquid that was absolutely disgusting and made us physically sick. The room was completely uninhabitable, and we were forced to sleep on the sofa instead. Whats worse is that these exact issues have been mentioned in previous reviews, yet the owner has clearly made no effort to fix them. Continuing to rent the property in this condition while falsely advertising five functioning bathrooms is not only dishonest but highly irresponsible. This property should not be listed as a 5bathroom accommodation until all facilities are properly repaired. Do not be fooled by the description if you value hygiene, comfort, and honesty, look elsewhere.

Great house for 6 Adults and 4 kids. Great Location Only negatives were the garden can be dangerous for young children with its multi levels of stone. why not level it and turf it ? Water in the showers was slow to drain, leak came from a shower upstairs and was running down the ceiling in the conservatory. Complete lack of recycling for the property, only general waste and food but zero food recycling bags. No bottles No cardboard recycling available.
Very un loved and unkempt from the outside on arrival, a theme that continued on entering Lamora. Plaster and paint coming off the walls, lots of cracks, debris in bathrooms from molddirt around skylights. Only 2 of the 5 bedrooms had wardrobecupboards, One small chest of draws between 2 people was the norm! Unsafe patio windows opening onto 1st floor ledges with no balconyfences led to a very warm stay. Super king bed in main bedroom wasn't made linked at all, just pushed together, whole thing had to be stripped and linked together properly and remade. Garden was a very overgrown slabbed area, overlooked, shared gateaccess, weeds growing though all the slabs, furniture filthy. Having stayed with John Bray for nearly 40 years in such beautiful, well looked after and well equipped houses Lamorna was a huge disappointment.

We were disappointed because we could not connect to the internet and then our host did not return our IM or call for help. The password sent in the email was not correct. We did finally find a handout with useful information, but it was under a racing magazine we just happened to pick up. In addition, we are used to a welcome packet in the kitchen with a useful notebook of information. Coffee for the coffee maker is key as well as a few toiletries and snacks. Otherwise, this was a great place to stay. Very clean and very convenient to the area. Thanks you for allowing me to share to help you in the future.

We had the most amazing few days at Lamorna over Easter celebrating a special birthday. The owners were very accommodating allowing us to bring our dogs and the house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 4 children 515. The games room was brilliant, the open plan lounge kitchen worked well. Plenty of space for everyone! The beds were so comfortable!! It was great that everyone had their own bathroom. It wasnt easy getting the TV channels but we managed. Location was perfect and we had no problem with parking 3 cars. We will definatley be back!

Loved our stay. There was a very quick response to a heating issue. The property has a great set out for a large group stay. Enjoyed the woodburning fireplace. Excellent oven to cook a Christmas dinner. I wished we had known to bring our own soap and shampoo. We couldn't get the TV in the living room to work but we didn't need TV anyway. Comfortable beds. Thank you for the Christmas tree!!
Loved the property. Deceptively spacious and good location. Unfortunately we had to clean the kitchen before use and there were lots of mouse droppings in the cupboard under the sink. This put us off using the floor cupboards. The fridge needed cleaning and there was food left in the freezer. We had to call out maintenance for the tumble dryer, which was very prompt, but unfortunately had to wait for a new part. Washing facilities were really important to us as we had 4 very little children, including a 6 week old baby. Two of the smoke alarms were beeping when we arrived and needed new batteries. These should be checked before guests arrive, but maintenance replaced them, when they came to repair the tumble dryer. Having said all that, we would definitely stay there again. We have stayed in numerous North Cornish properties, visiting family and Lamorna was perfect for large family groups. Thank you.

Hi we had a lovley stay and enjoyed the apartment, we found that there was a heating issue that didnt seem to resolve its self until the last few days but not a huge issue as we used the log fire, we do have some recommendations that would improve your apartment no equipment for log burner which is essential for using log burner and more accessories for kitchen as the frying pan was sticking and not much cooking equipment like trays ect we also believe a welcome pack and a few logs would be nice gesture but thats your decision. Otherwise a lovley stay and we will recommend you place to friends and would come again if we decide to visit port Issac again, thank you for having us .The Stockers..

Beautiful house, ideal for larger families. Location is perfect with just a short walk down the hill to the harbour. Restaurants and lovely shops all in walking distance. Our only concern is the parking situation which seems to be a problem for all of Port Isaac. We went as a family of seven with two cars and parking was a struggle at times.
Absolutely fantastic stay in wonderful accommodation within a superb location. Highly recommend this house and myself and my family didnt want to leave.
Michael
Outside area unusable, filthy furniture and uncleaned for weeks. Disgusting. Couldn't use conservatory not enough seating. Kitchen, dining and lounge area was fine. The blinds in the kitchen dining area fell off and had to be left shut for fear of touching them. We left it cleaner than we found it !
We had a lovely stay Thank you
Joanne
Fantastic cottage at the top of the village in Port Issac. Very well equipped and lovely and clean.
On arrival at the property, we were impressed until we went inside to a mucky sand filled floor, broken door handles to which we have pictures. Under the kitchen sink was cleaning products which had leaked all over.
Perfect accommodation, would book again.
Valerie
We really enjoyed our stay at Lamorna in Port Isaac, the property was ideal for us, a family of all adults celebrating a special birthday. We met the owner Bill & his wife who happily provided us with a BBQ for our stay & was extremely helpful. The cottage was beautiful & well laid out & very comfortable & had everything we required. Most enjoyable stay,we will be back!
Pictures don't quite do the house justice, it was amazing inside, had a glorious week.
The house is very well located with parking on the drive and street. the house appear to have been recently refurbished and the open lounge, kitchen and diner were very sociable. We left some feedback during our stay as we felt certain things could have been better. There is a lack of storage in some of the bedrooms so those members of our party were unable to unpack. Basic items like waste bins in the bedrooms, a clothes airer etc would have been useful. The TVs are smart TVs which was great but there doesn't seem to be an aerial so we couldn't put on normal TV. Overall we had a good stay but finishing touches would make a big improvement.
