Tower House Reviews

Fantastic place to stay , everyone enjoyed the holiday and the space inside we were not on top of each other. The kids loved the garden and the adults loved the kitchen table to play games.
We had a lovely stay at Tower House. The house itself is very comfortable and every room is a good size. It is a traditional Cornish cottage with lovely slate floors, fire places and large comfortable bedrooms. We found it was very well equipped and loved the outdoor decking which even in November was a nice spot for a coffee in the morning overlooking the garden and the countryside. The parking was very handy as we had three fairly large cars which we were relieved that we could park directly outside on the drive. We had one issue, which was actually our grandson unplugging the tv to use his PlayStation, the owners rang us back straight away and solved the problem immediately much to our embarrassment. Boscastle itself was lovely with three great pubs which were all very friendly and accommodated us, as large party, very well. We also loved the farm shop where the food was fantastic and has a stunning coast path walk to. Overall we all had a lovely stay and will definitely be returning to Tower House.
Great house to stay in very clean and tidy highly recommend it
We had a lovely stay here. Great location and the house was a perfect size for 2 families. The house just needs a little TLC to bring it up to scratch eg the bathroom ceiling needs painting, the fridge needs a thorough clean and some air fresheners wouldnt go a miss.

We all had a great stay. Generally the facilities were very good. The DVD player did not work and there was no BBQ as stated. The premises would benefit from redecoration.
Bronwyn
We had a lovely week at Tower House, there were a couple of issues when we arrived some broken glass on the floor, no tea towels, and left over washing from the previous people's stay but these were dealt with very promptly literally within a couple of hours of arrival. The house is a great space we were a party of 10 and worked very well. The kitchen was well equipped and even came with a coffee machine and air fryer. The only comment I would give is about the beds, the mattresses on two of the doubles were not comfortable and needed either replacing or provision of a topper. Also, if you had people in your group who were tall two of our party were 64 all the beds had footboards so they didn't fit although I appreciate this wouldn't be a problem for most people!! All in all, I would definitely recommend this for a holiday. It's a great house with parking for three cars on the drive, and the location is amazing, just a short very steep! walk from Boscastle Harbour which was perfect for a swim, and easy access to the coastal path for lovely walks.
Lovely cottage! Well equipped great for family holiday.
Denise
Not very clean, white pillows on bed did not spell fresh. Shower over bath leaked water coming above patio doors in kitchen. Shower tray upstairs fills up needs cleaning out. If u put dish washer on a normal wash dishes are not clean. Toaster is not very good. Fridge drawers were not very clean, water dispenser, not clean. Think it could do with a spring clean, things dont seem to get moved. Dirty tea bag gone mouldy in tea pot. We did not use fire in kitchen, we did use fire in lounge which was very nice, it was left cleaner then when we arrived. Shame its a lovely House. Steep walk back from the village.
Lovely property in a beautiful location. Where located is on an incline so you do need a pair of good leg muscles for the walk up to the house from the town centre Loved the decking area to sit and relax in the morning and enjoy the sun and peaceful outlook. Very well equipped with kitchen items plenty of pans with a range of sizes which is just what you need for a large number of people as well as bottle opener etc.Bedrooms all a good size, including downstairs bedroombathroom which is always a plus for the older generation. Including a further two upstairs. Lots of space to socialise as well as finding a quiet area if needed. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
A great stay thank you!
A few bits looking a bit tired. Ripped wallpaper, carpets seen better days, cooker and toasted knobs broken. The cleaners didnt do a great job before we arrived, but overall a fabulous house with everything we needed and brilliant stay
Stephen
House was clean and tidy but after a few days you noticed little things that could be improved, silly things like toilet roll too close to down stairs toilet so that legs actually touch the toilet roll, odd light bulbs not working and knob broken on cooker. Once you accept these things everything was Fine.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tower House, great house for lots of people, lovely location had everything we needed.
The house well located, its spacious and has a lovely garden. Unfortunately, some things were broken such as the one of the toilet seats and the blinds in the larger room. The listing had the bbq as one of the facilities but it is completely rusted and cannot be used which ruined our plans and all the bbq food we bought went to waste. We are very disappointed and unhappy about the misleading information on the families of the property. We suggest that this gets taken out from the list of available facilities unless is replaced by a new bbq
Jeremy
Tower House is extremely well positioned to explore the fantastic landscape of North Cornwall. The house itself is a real gem. We found it clean and tidy with plenty of space for 4 adults and 3 children and very well equipped.
Place was not clean on arrival cleaners had done a poor rushed job big spiders webs for example, filthy windows on in and outside. Place is in need of renovation work which includes new wallpaper, carpets, Regrouting in bathrooms, filling holes in walls and painting etc Not enough outdoor seats on the terrace which is too small for the property. No tumble dryer. Fridge needs replacing as didnt work well when full and in regular use cheap make. Kitchen and dining area was good. No ventilation in one of bathrooms that had a shower that was too small and offensively loud. Gorgeous setting with good parking. Tv room isnt great, feels like an old peoples home or a doctors waiting room. Loads of hot water available after days on the beach. A real mixed bag but far too much money to rent this place vs what you get for your money.
The holiday home was not left in a clean state. The floors had not been hoovered or swept and were covered in hair from previous guests. We were also left with a bunch on dead flowers in the window sil. The window sills were full of dust and fluff, we needed to lean in them to open the large sash windows and each time got very dirty. The listing said there was a games room but there was no such room for us to access. There was a door downstairs but it was locked with private on the door. Overall the house was lovely and accommodated us perfectly with ample space for our children but the cleanliness of the house was not up to standard.

We had an amazing stay at Tower House. The property was spotlessly clean, rooms were bigger in real life that they looked in the description unusual but true! There were 10 of us 2 parents our children ranging from 16 to 24 and their friendpartner and we had plenty of space to be together for meals & The Euros, but comfortable bedrooms and outside spaces when we wanted to do our own thing. We loved it so much we are booking it again n 2022. A huge thank you from me to the owners and their caretaker you made a clucky mother hen and her brood very happy!!!
Richard
Booking process simple unlike other online booking platforms. Information supplied right through the process was spot on. Very easy and would have no hesitation booking with Sykes again
Really pleased with size and location of the property. Plenty of room for everyone Large kitchen dining room and comfy sitting room amazing to stay in converted church building. Two parking spaces were also an advantage because house in narrow street. Boscastle was a lovely, friendly place to stay with several pubs, restaurants and fantastic Farm shop with delicious cream tea. Boscastle has some great walks and small food shops too.
The house was comfortable, clean and fine for our needs. It had decent facilities and we were generally happy with our stay. The house needs a bit of TLC in places but nothing major.
The house is nice and in a good location. However it is in desperate need of some new mattresses for the beds the one on the top bunk was so threadbare it was unusable by anyone weighing more than 4 stone, and the two double beds caused back and shoulder aches in people who have never experienced any problems previously. We came away feeling tired and sore, rather than refreshed by our holiday, which was a real shame.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tower House but people should know that it is a good way up a very steep hill and would not be suitable for people who were not quite fit. The house is lovely and the kitchen especially good for a big group of people, very well equipped. It was really helpful to be left instructions for various electrical appliances as often they can be a mystery. If we had quibbles it would be that the lighting is quite muted. I was not able to read my book in bed for the whole week as the lighting was just not good enough. Also we could have done with more towels as there is no tumble drier. These however are minor things we really enjoyed our stay and had loads of room.
Fantastic house that slept us all
Standard of cleaning was a bit average generally it looked as if the place could do with a proper spring clean. Issue with broken bed on arrival. This was dealt with very promptly by the owner but should have been noticed and rectified in advance. Lock missing on a bathroom door lightbulbs blown central island unit in kitchen beginning to fall apart etc. Cooking utensils were a bit limited for a place that sleeps 11. We struggled to cook a roast dinner due to lack of saucepan capacity etc. Also kitchen knives were fairly useless I recognise that there is a potential issue if knives are too sharp but a knife should have some sort of cutting edge something that only the bread knife achieved! Overall impression was of a pleasant property in a good location. However, it was let down by the standard of presentation and maintenance.
